5 Ridiculous Questions with Lindsey Crisp
Coffee Drinker, Artist, Arm-Wrestling Champby Tim Miner on September 27, 2019
At Not Just Coffee Jay Street last Friday night, native Charlottean (That’s right! They exist!) Lindsey Crisp reigned supreme. She won the inaugural night of bouts from Southern Ladies Arm-Wrestling League (S.L.A.W.) Watch the moment of her victory here. By the way, all rumors that she trained by arm-wrestling lads in Ireland last month are 100% true.
When Lindsey’s not flexing her muscles, she teaches yoga with the Khali Yoga Center in NoDa, works in mixed media and pottery and hangs with her dog, Cashew. While she’s putting the finishing touches on her yoga studio, Lindsey actually slowed down long enough to let us ask her five ridiculous questions.
They say “Charlotte’s Got A Lot” … of, what, do you think?
Charlotte’s Got A Lot of dogs on retractable leashes.
Where’s your favorite place you’ve ever gotten lost in Charlotte?
I really like getting lost around the Queens Road West area. I love looking at the architecture and landscaping of the houses. There is such an art to how people present their house and its cool to see all the different personalities.
What never seems to fall off your To-Do List?
“Drink water” is always on my to-do list. The amount of hot yoga classes that I am in every day means I am constantly having to push myself to drink water. I have my water bottle with me at all times.
Which do you like more … the scent of fresh markers or the scent of wet paint?
Wet paint for the win. I associate wet paint with something fresh and new.
Charlotte needs a yoga pose that captures its spirit. What is it? What’s it called?
Charlotte needs savasana. This is the final pose of every yoga practice. You basically lay on the ground, rest and take it all in. It’s a good way to calm down and let go. We are a city that is growing FAST. All this change means we also need a strong grounding practice…. otherwise, we’ll get swept up in the emotional rollercoaster of our ever-changing city.
And, a sixth question to grow on… (We get to make the rules, here, y’all.) When Cashew whispers the secret of the universe into your ear … what does he say?
Cashew tells me to keep it simple. He tells me to prioritize the primal (movement, food, water, sleep) and that the rest will fall into place. He’s such a good boy.
