HUG LIFE: Alesa Moore Sings Loud and Soft & Does What She Loves

June 11, 2019 | By Matt Olin | CLT Creatives | Music

Those around Alesa Moore have always known she’s a singer. Now, thousands and thousands of people around the world know, too. She was recently awarded a HUG (Helpful Unfettered Gift) Micro-grant to assist her in creating a music video for one of her new a cappella arrangements with local videography company, 12AM Collective. All of Alesa’s arrangements are done solely with her own voice and the end result is remarkable. Case in point, on May 3, Alesa posted her a cappella cover of Maggie Rogers’ “Overnight.” On May 21, Maggie Rogers re-posted it (SEE BELOW) – with the comment, “i have full body chills. thank you…

Brit Drozda Makes Something Beautiful

May 29, 2019 | By Andy Goh | CLT Nonprofits | Music | Podcasts

Growing up with parents who supported their children’s creativity, Brit Drozda and her brother indulged a love of music from an early age. The wrote and performed together in high school and Brit accelerated her live performances at Davidson College. Eventually, however, she stopped writing and performing. After a career in the culinary arts and starting her family, Brit was inspired to write a song she called “Let Me Hang the Moon.” This song — and playing it for others – inspired her to re-engage with her passion for music. And, she’s given her talents to Charlotte ever since. Hearing Brit’s soulful singing and folk-rock-pop…

Played by Hausman: Vol. 2 – Boingo Graphics

May 6, 2019 | By | CLT Creatives | Editor's Pick | Music | Videos

Here’s the newest Played By Hausman! For this one, we had Jason head over to one of our favorite printers, Boingo Graphics! Boingo has one of the coolest print shops in the area and we knew this was going to be a great fit for this video series. Although Boingo has some the most advanced printing technology around, Cinematographer Ben Premeaux could not pull his camera away from all the vintage/historic print machines that they still maintain. The visuals, with all the older moving parts, are what make this video come alive! Composed and performed by Jason Hausman at Hot Sakē Cinematography by Ben Premeaux…

May 8, 2019 | By Tim Miner | CLT Creatives | Exploring Charlotte | Happenings | Music

Some may say that the glory days of epic DJ battles are over. Charlotte musician and producer, Dae Lee, says they’ve just started. When he heard about Charlotte SHOUT! and its focus on music, Lee decided the time had come to revive a time-honored tradition of DJs fighting it out to see whose skills reigned supreme in the club scene. He shared this idea with Charlotte Center City Partners as a way to celebrate Charlotte’s 250th anniversary and … with a little help from friends at Music Everywhere CLT, Party Rocker and CLT Loft Sessions … CLT DJ Battle was born. April 22, 2019 | By The Biscuit Staff | CLT Creatives | Editorials | Music

Graphic designer. Musician. Dad. While those words can’t capture the creative prowess of David Haire, senior designer at Wray Ward, they’re a good start. And, they help explain what drives him. Haire has been a mainstay in Charlotte’s local music scene for decades, and his aural creations show no sign of slowing. His musical project up/dn’s most recent release is called “Turbo Volvo.” Listen here. Dave’s latest musical project was inspired in no small part to Griffin, his son. Griffin has been diagnosed with autism. While extremely intelligent, Griffin has communications challenges. That said, he responded strongly to Dave’s music, listening to it repeatedly. He…

The album they emerged with needs to be heard to be believed. Mark your calendars for the next CreativeMornings AF-terparty – AKA the “Stirring the Haunts” album release show – at 8:00 PM on Friday, April 5 at Free Range Brewing. Still hungry?
